| 유적설명 | 개성 남대문에서 동쪽으로 약 1km 떨어진 선죽동의 자남산子南山 남쪽에 위치한다. 『고려사高麗史』 최충헌 전崔忠獻 傳 선지교善地橋의 기록으로 볼 때 현재의 선죽교는 13세기 초 무렵 혹은 그 이전부터 존재하였을 것으로 추정된다. 또한 『신증동국여지승람新增東國輿地勝覽』에서 선죽교에 대한 기록이 나타나는 것으로 보아 13~15세기 사이 선지교에서 선죽교로 명칭이 바뀌었을 것으로 추정된다. 선죽교는 고려말의 충신 포은圃隱 정몽주鄭夢周가 이방원李芳遠 일파에 의해 살해된 장소이기도 하다. 본래 별도의 난간이 없었는데, 지금과 같은 다리 상부의 석조물은 1780년과 1796년 두 차례에 걸쳐 설치된 것이다. 현재 선죽교의 옆으로 별도의 석교가 있으며 이는 선죽교를 보존하고 일반인들이 통행할 수 있도록 설치된 것이다. 다리의 석재 중 일부 범자梵字가 확인되는 것은 개성시 묘각사지妙覺寺址의 다라니석당陀羅尼石幢 중 일부가 사용된 것으로 알려져 있다. 선죽교의 옆으로는 ‘선죽교비善竹橋碑’가 세워져 있는데 비석의 글자는 개성 출신 명필인 석봉石峰 한호韓濩의 것이다.선죽교는 제37차 유네스코 세계유산 위원회에서 세계유산으로 등록되었다. |
| 유적설명(영어) | The Sonjuk Bridge is located in the south of Mt. Janam, about 1 kilometer east of the Kaesong Namdae Gate. Given references to the “Sonji Bridge” in Goryeo sa (History of Goryeo), the bridge is estimated to have existed since the 13th century or before. Sinjeung dongguk yeoji seungnam(Expanded Augmented Survey of the Geography of Korea) compiled in 1530 has records of the “Sonjuk Bridge,” and therefore it is estimated that the name of the bridge was transformed from Sonji to Sonjuk between the 13th and the 15th centuries. The Sonjuk Bridge is the bloody place where Jeong Mong-ju, a loyal official of Goryeo, was killed by Yi Bang-won, a son of Yi Seonggye, the founder of Joseon. Originally there were no railings, but the current railings were made two times in 1780 and in 1796 to prohibit the traffic and to protect the bridge. While building the railings, another bridge was made next to the Sonjuk Bridge to accommodate the traffic. Some of the stone elements of the bridge bear the carving of the Sanskrit script, known to have come from the elements of the Dharani Hall at the Myogak Temple in Kaesong. Beside the Sonjuk Bridge stands a monument inscribed with the handwriting of Han Ho (pen name Seokbong), a master calligrapher of Joseon. The Sonjuk Bridge was inscribed on the World Heritage List at the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee in 2013. |
