| 상세설명 | 병풍 8폭을 연결한 장방형의 긴 화면 위에 부감법으로 평양성의 전체 경관을 그리고, 화면 안에 평안감사 부임 시의 대동강 선유船遊 광경을 삽입한 작품이다. 제1·2폭은 북성北城에 해당되는 지역으로 모란봉의 산세와 그 아랫자락에 자리한 부벽루·영명사가 보이며, 제3·4·5폭은 내성內城으로 수많은 가옥과 주요 시설이 평행사선으로 정연하게 구획된 가운데 빽빽이 자리 잡고 있어 도시의 번화함이 잘 드러난다. 제5폭의 뒷부분부터 제6폭까지는 중성中城으로 가옥의 모습과 토산土山, 수로水路 등이 그려졌다. 제6폭 하단부터 제8폭까지는 토성土城으로 이루어진 외성에 정전井田이 격자형으로 반듯하게 구획되었다. 평양성을 감싸고 흐르는 대동강 위를 유유히 흘러가는 배들은 시적 정취를 자아낸다. 대규모 선단船團으로 이루어진 평안감사 도임행렬은 화면 도입부인 능라도에서부터 중심인 대동문 앞까지 길게 이어져있다. 대동문 앞에 많은 인파가 모여든 가운데, 각종 의장기를 든 군사들과 대취타를 연주하는 군악대를 태운 선박이 선두에 자리하고, 그 뒤로 창을 든 수군을 태운 배에 둘러싸인 평안감사의 정자선亭子船이 등장한다. 정자선 뒤쪽에는 좌독기坐纛旗가 휘날리고 있으며, 평안감사는 정자 안에 기대앉은 모습으로 기생에게 둘러싸여 있다. 평안감사 부임 시 배를 타고 대동강을 건너 대동문으로 향하는 선유 장면은 도임의례의 백미로 회자되었다. 이러한 도임행렬은 다른 일상적 풍속 장면과 함께 평양성 전경 안에 결합됨으로써 조선 후기 평양의 풍요롭고 번화한 도시적 면모를 잘 보여준다. 2011년도 국립문화재 연구소 지원사업을 통해 보존처리 되었다. |
| 외국어설명 | The entire city of Pyongyang, including the boating procession of the new Pyeongan Provincial Governor along Daedong River, is illustrated in a bird’s-eye view on an eightpanel wide screen. The first and second panels from the right show the northern fortress area including a view of Moranbong embracing the Floating Jade Pavilion (Bubyeongnu 浮碧樓) and Yeongmyeong-sa monastery (永明寺) at its skirt. The third, fourth, and fifth panels illustrate the flourishing inner city as seen through the density of housings and facilities, neatly aligned inside the wall. The upper part of the fifth panel to the sixth panel depicts the inner suburban area with houses, earthen hills, and waterways. The lower part of the sixth panel to the eighth panel portrays the rest of the outer city with checkerboard-arranged fields surrounded by earthen outer fortress walls. Boats sailing along the Daedong River surrounding the city create a festive mood. The procession upon the new governor’s arrival in a large fleet extends from Neungnado, the island at the far right of the canvas, to the Daedongmun Gate at the center of the screen. Crowds are gathered around the gate area watching ceremonial flag holders of the army and marching bands at play on the leading boats, followed by the canopied boat for the governor escorted by a fleet of sailors holding spears. The governor is surrounded by female entertainers and followed by a boat bearing a large black flag. The new governor’s boating procession along the river to the Daedongmun Gate upon his appointment was the highlight of the inauguration ceremony. The scenes of a grand procession and everyday life in the city are blended here in an overview of the Pyongyang City Fortress area to create a lively portrait of a flourishing city in the late Joseon period. The screen was restored through conservation treatment supported by the National Research Institute of Curtural Heritage in 2011. |
